This past Sunday evening (April 16th), Lauren Worley gave a great pep talk to the Refuge Prayer Team. Her words are better than mine (Ryan Miller), so I would like to share them with you:
Happy Easter everyone! Just wanted to share that this morning as I was asking God what we should pray about during prayer team time, John 11 and the story of Lazarus came to mind. So we read through John 11, stopping periodically to pray. We asked God to remove any “stones” that Satan had placed in people’s paths to keep them from coming, we thanked God that no one is too spiritually “dead” to be reached by Christ, and we thanked God that our faith as followers would be like that of Mary and Martha, knowing and believing that Jesus is the resurrection and the life.
Well, I definitely saw God answering those prayers. I was so encouraged by the new faces, the friendliness of old ones, and the joy and energy of our worship, message and fellowship.
Side note: I had no idea Jeremiah was preaching from John 11. God is so cool!
Thank you all for your prayers this past week. This next Sunday is possibly MORE important as we know that attendance the Sunday after Easter can quickly drop. Let’s be Jesus in the community. Let’s ask God to send more workers so that the seeds planted this Easter can be watered and grow. If you are friends with someone who came for the first time, make it a point to show them love this week and invite them again. God is doing an awesome work here (of course, He IS God after all) and we are so blessed to be part of it. Way to go prayer warriors!
“Rejoice always! Pray constantly. Give thanks in everything, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”
