Growth in the body of Christ begins with a little bit of fun. If you are guy, some good food and some rough housing definitely doesn’t hurt. On March 10th, seven Refuge men met at Gambino’s Pizza to keep an eye on the Big 12 game. After some good laughs and wrestling over a game of spoons, we got out our swords and turned to Proverbs 3:5-6 which says, “Trust in the Lord with all of your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all of your ways acknowledge the Lord and He will make your paths straight” (NIV84). There is nothing more admirable than a man who chooses to trust the Lord. As one professor once said, “God can be trusted. We can only trust Him. We must trust Him.” It was uplifting to sit back and listen as each man shared about one time in their life when they trusted God.
At the conclusion of our night, Jeremiah dove across the table after a skittering spoon. The screws that held table together tumbled to the floor. Stunned, we sat there holding a dismembered table. Thankfully, Josh Harger retrieved some tools and screws from his shop. We informed the manager and asked if we could fix the table. He obliged and the table is now better than we found it. None of us guys will forget that evening.
